This course was my submission for Tim Slade’s February 2025 eLearning Challenge. It’s a competency-based experience that helps managers deliver effective feedback during performance reviews. Learners navigate realistic scenarios, balancing tough conversations with motivating employees, like championing traditional tools such as sticky notes in a digital-first workplace.
Originally built in Storyline using provided assets, I later enhanced it with Vyond to boost storytelling and visual impact. The redesign allows managers to focus on specific skills like goal-setting, feedback delivery, and team motivation. I believe competency-based learning empowers learners while respecting their time and needs.
Audience: Five assistant regional managers overseeing teams of 3–5 sales reps, responsible for delivering performance reviews.
Problem: After a challenging 2024 sales year, 75% of reps reported dissatisfaction with 1:1 meetings and feedback. Managers must now deliver effective reviews, motivate reps to meet 2025 goals, and push back on digital-only solutions.
Solution: A competency-based, scenario-driven module that builds performance review skills using Miro for planning, Storyline for interactivity, and Vyond for enhanced storytelling. It focuses on delivering actionable feedback and improving manager-employee interactions.
Process: I used Miro to organize ideas around sticky note sales (the course theme), then developed a design document and storyboard. The initial version was built in Storyline, followed by a refined beta with integrated Vyond media. Peer feedback informed the final version, which is now implementation-ready.
Evaluation:
Level 2: Knowledge checks and a scenario-based quiz aligned to two main learning objectives: the “sandwich” feedback approach and active listening techniques.
Level 3: Post-training surveys and interviews with both managers and reps to assess effectiveness in real-world performance reviews.
Lessons Learned: I plan to improve accessibility by prioritizing closed captioning, alt text, and compliance with WCAG 2.2. Technically, I’ll streamline navigation with variables and integrate learner-driven self-assessments and reflections to enhance engagement and metacognitive growth.
Features: Text Variable, Triggers, Layers & States, Click to Reveal, Timed Animations, Accordion, Custom Drag & Drop, Performance Based Quiz and JavaScript.

This course addresses inefficiencies and inconsistent sourcing in matching Au Pairs with families. It equips matching specialists with a streamlined, effective approach to sourcing and vetting candidates.
Inspired by my own family’s childcare search, I partnered with AuParadise, an Au Pair matching organization, to create this portfolio sample. With permission under our freelance agreement, I developed a parallel course that honors their proprietary methods while sharing key insights.
Audience: Six female matching specialists at Au Pair Connect, with more being onboarded as the company grows.
Problem: Specialists spend up to 30 hours sourcing and vetting each Au Pair and are not using available tools efficiently or consistently across the 14 DOS-approved agencies.
Solution: This training streamlines the sourcing process, aiming to cut time by one-third. It provides a structured approach to boost efficiency, reduce redundancy, and help specialists stay on track during setbacks.
Process: I defined learner needs, developed and refined course plans based on feedback, and built the course through iterative alpha, beta, and final “gold” versions. Content drew from existing materials and additional research.
Evaluation:
Level 2: Knowledge checks and a scenario-based quiz aligned to sourcing and vetting best practices.
Level 3: On-the-job observations, post-training interviews with specialists and the business owner to assess impact.
Lessons Learned: I refined my visual design skills, reduced cognitive load, and improved engagement using Articulate Storyline. Iterative feedback shaped a cleaner, more impactful learning experience, and I’m excited to continue elevating my design strategies.

This course draws inspiration from a Tim Slade eLearning Challenge, transforming the often-dreaded topic of bloodborne pathogens into an engaging experience. It elevates the learning process with a wide range of interactive elements, including dynamic media, gamification, 360-degree immersion, and sequential ordering. Additionally, enhanced visual design is incorporated through the Mighty plugin, making the content both informative and visually captivating.
Having participated in bloodborne pathogen trainings for the past 12 years, I can attest to how boring and dull they often are. My goal for this training was to create a more engaging, learner-centered experience while still meeting the same OSHA requirements.
Audience: Healthcare professionals at Knotty Pines Senior Community, including staff responsible for custodial, nursing, and rehabilitation care, such as those involved in bathing, dressing, feeding, administering medications, monitoring vitals, and providing therapy.
Problem: The problem was that the yearly bloodborne pathogen training, required for compliance, was disengaging and ineffective, with staff lacking retention and real-world application of safety procedures.
Solution: This training solves the issue of disengaging bloodborne pathogen training by making it interactive and relevant, ensuring better safety, compliance, and care at Knotty Pines Senior Community.
Process: I created an interactive Rise course that transforms a dull training, refined through stakeholder feedback. It's now ready for implementation, with evaluation to follow.
Evaluation:
Level 2: Immersive 360 pathogen search, gamification for donning and doffing PPE, hygiene ordering, general knowledge check for 'Do' and 'Do Nots', and a 4-question scenario-based quiz weaving both learning objectives together in all questions.
Level 3: Knotty Pines Senior Community resident feedback forms and data monitoring for safety incidents regarding bloodborne pathogens.
Lessons Learned: I pushed the envelope with Rise's new feature of the custom coding block. When I had a vision or an idea I followed it through and used different blocks like Storyline and embed to accomplish my design vision.
This course covers key safety considerations for crabbing charters, especially for guests new to the activity. It emphasizes the captain’s role in anticipating risks, adapting on the water, and ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience.
As a passionate recreational crabber, I drew from personal experience to highlight situational awareness skills, using photos from my own crabbing trips with family and friends.
Audience: Four rotating, seasonal captains at Jimmy’s Charters with varying experience levels.
Problem: Captains focus more on guest enjoyment than safety, leading to avoidable incidents—currently one every other charter.
Solution: This training fosters a safety-first mindset, helping captains recognize risks and prevent incidents to ensure a secure experience for all guests.
Process: I developed a comprehensive Rise course, refined through stakeholder feedback. The final version is ready for implementation, with evaluation to follow.
Evaluation:
Level 2: Ungraded knowledge checks and a 5-question scenario-based quiz tied to key safety tasks (weather, positioning, trotline placement, etc.).
Level 3: Post-charter guest surveys, peer observations during smaller charters, and a team debrief to share safety insights.
Lessons Learned: I embraced Rise’s limitations to creatively deliver strong visuals and interactive content. This project sharpened my focus on essential content, balancing clarity and context to meet learning goals effectively.
